Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ section aims to provide the answer to the most common questions that you may have about Balmoral Sailing School. If you don't find the answer you need here, please call us directly on 9960 5344 or e-mail info@sailingschool.com.au and we will help you as soon as possible.

In any booking / hire it is recommended that you call on the day to check the weather forecast.

How to get Balmoral Beach

For GPS, Tom Tom users, please use this address Cross Street between Plunkett Street and Esplanade, Mosman 2088. Balmoral Sailing School is located at the end of the car park.  For bus routes please check our website for details.

Car Parking

Sorry we do not have car parking on site. There is free parking on the streets around Balmoral Beach.  There is a pay and display system at the car park located next to the Sailing School.  Visitors must purchase a ticket from the machines in the car park and display the ticket during regulated times.  The site is 13P from 7am – 8pm everyday including public holidays.

Free Buss Hail-and-ride

The Mosman Rider provides a safe, friendly and convenient travel alternative for residents and visitors to hightail it around Mosman. Hail the bus anywhere along its route. www.mosmanrider.net

What we will Supply

All the equipment required, including buoyancy aids (which are compulsory on the water). Wetsuits are available if needed and we have changing and shower facilities. You can also leave your valuables in our office with a member of Balmoral staff.

Items you may wish to Bring

• T-shirt/Rash Vest and shorts to sail in
• Sun Hat
• Wetsuit (school can supply one)
• Sunglasses - all glasses should be secured with a strap
• Water bottle
• Boots/shoes Old trainers, (we do not insist that you wear footwear)
• High protection water resistant sun cream (factor 25 minimum)

When you arrive at Balmoral

We will introduce you to staff and facilities, registration will take place, full payment is required before you go out on the water, you will be shown the sailing area and briefed on the equipment.  Then you can get kitted up and get out on the water.


 
Money Matters

You can either pay when making your booking over the phone, by using your card, or you can pay when you arrive onsite. Here at Balmoral we can accept, EFT or EFTPOS or alternatively cash payments.

First Aid

Balmoral Sailing School is staffed by YA and RYA trained instructors.  All instructors are
qualified in RYA First Aid Course.  We also have a number of staff members with senior first aid qualifications.  Local doctors are available at two nearby medical centres.

Local Facilities

Facilities local to Balmoral include many Café’s. There are ATM machines in one of
the local café’s and in the Balmoral Cellars. There is a local kiosk that sells anything you might need for the beach but have forgotten, they also sell food and chilled drinks.

Child protection

@ balmoral Sailing School we are committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children are maintained at all times during their participation in activities run by balmoral Sailing School and its member bodies.  balmoral Sailing School aims to promote a safe environment for all children and to assist all staff, officials, coaches, members and volunteers to recognise child abuse and neglect and follow the appropriate notification procedures when reporting alleged abuse.

The focus of the policy and guidelines is the prevention of child abuse in the sporting environment.

This policy  and guidelines promote the care and protection of children participating in balmoral Sailing School and provide information and direction for employees, official, coaches, volunteers and members of the organisation.

This policy and guidelines will assist balmoral Sailing School in establishing coordinated strategies for dealing with the problem of child abuse and neglect in a responsible, effective and consistent manner.
